A suspect has been apprehended on rape and murder charges following an incident involving an elderly woman and juvenile in Harford County on Thursday, according to the Bel Air Police Department.
On Feb. 22, officers from the department were called to the 700 block of Bedford Road to investigate an assault, where they found 73-year-old Mary Catherine Bland suffering from stab wounds, and a teen girl who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Both were rushed to area hospitals, where Bland later died.
The investigation led police to identify 24-year-old Abingdon resident Angelo Terrell Spencer as a suspect, and he was swiftly apprehended, the department announced.
Investigators made note that Spencer was known to the family he allegedly attacked.
Spencer was arrested outside his home about 90 minutes after the assault and later charged with:
- First-degree murder;
- First-degree rape;
- Two counts of first-degree assault.
He's being held without bond at the Harford County Detention Center.
No additional details were provided by the police.
